Step down transformer is transferring the higher voltage of input end to lower ideal voltage so that the voltage can be stepped down.

Principle of control: Auto-induction voltage-reduced starting is a starting method to reduce voltage of motor end by autotransformer. Autotransformer can get different outlet-voltage from two sets of taps( 80% and 50% of common supply voltage), when it starts, one set of tap will use 65 percent tap to connect with loop of electromotor. When its speed of rotate is close to rated speed, remove autotransformer so that electromotor can full-voltage start by connecting electromotor with three-phase supply.
